Glow in the Dark Shape Turtle

This week we made some glow in the dark shape turtles. This was shape week for Neil at school, so we had a little fun.
What you need:
mini paper plates
paint - green or yellow and blue - make it more fun and use some glow in the dark paint
brushes
I printed off the shapes for the back, legs, tail, and head from here.
scissors
glue
What's cool about these turtles? Well, we used some glow in the dark paint! Cause that makes anything cool, right?

Groundhog Day Puppet

We made these with our friends that came over today to talk about shadows and the Groundhog Day tradition. The groundhog slides down into the plate and then you can make it pop out to see if you can see his shadow or not. I think it would be fun to use some flashlights.

Materials used: small paper plate, popsicle stick, brown cardboard paper, poem printed onto plain white paper, stapler, glue, tape, and crayons.
The poem can be found here, and the groundhog head can be found here in either black and white or color.

Snowflakes and stick puppets

Here are a couple of really easy crafts. The snowflakes are good because it helps kids practice using scissors and they can't mess up.

The puppets are kind of cheater crafts. They come in a kit and the things you put on them are just stickers. It helps with their fine motor skills, though, taking off the backs of the stickers. Neil got pretty creative with his lion. =)

Monkey Puppet

My SIL, Megan, gave me this idea. I thought it was so cute, that I had to do it. We made them with some friends that I have been watching lately. I found the monkey template here . Next time I would probably make the head bigger, but the kids loved them. =)
